displaying more than 255 characters

Im using varchar(255)NOT NULL, in my setup file when I create my fields, to display upto 255 characters from my database when they are displayed on my webpage. I want be able to display more than 255 characters, what statment can be used to acheive this. I have tried Varchar (355) and this is not being accepted lol. What other statment can we use?.

try using 'text' instead

You should really read about the different column types and their limitations.

Try http://www.mysql.com/doc/C/o/Column_types.html to start.

Read that and you will see the appropriate column type to use.
