inserting in mysql a value with a '

Hi there,

I'm trying to allow people to add name's to a database.... however if they've got something with a ' in the name, it doesn't work properly... how can I get around this. Here is my sql statement:

Notice "John's Cottages"... the ' is making the database think it's closing quote.

INSERT INTO packagers (name,telephone,fax,email) VALUES ('John's Cottages','566-0472','892-4991','[e-mail]')

Escape it with \

INSERT INTO packagers (name,telephone,fax,email) VALUES ('John\'s Cottages','566-0472','892-4991','[e-mail]')

how's the best way to "find and replace" this ' every thing?

Php has a built in function, that is just a simple regex

addslashes()
