Substring

Hi,

I have a MYSQL DB running with a few fields. One of these fields happens to be a URL. Say for instance the url is, http://www.mysql.com/data/documents/index.html and I want to use the "substring" command to change only the http://www.mysql.com part to something else, say http://www.phpbuilder.com. How is this done? Any ideas as I have tried a few things but so far haven't be able to do an effective search and replace...

Any help will be great...

preg_replace is way more powerful than substringing
