Cannot connect mysql under Redhat 7.1

Dear all,

The webpage cannot be connected to mysql server under Red Hat 7.2. The Red hat has just installed. When we browsed the webpage, the error is given as follows,

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mysql_connect() in /home/htdocs/primary/top.php on line 23

That is, when calling mysql database every time, the above message is prompt out. Why?
Does it need any configuration setting?

php needs to be recompiled with mysql support.

Or you can just use the php-mysql RPM.
