Connecting to a remote database

How does one connect to a remote database?

My client has five Web sites, all of which run off the same database. For the primary site, the database connect file says:

$Host = "localhost";
$User="webapp";
$Password="********";
$Dbase="property_db";

Naturally, this works great on the site. But from one of his other sites, what should $Host be? I've tried the IP address, the domain name, leaving it as local host . . . and I'm stumped.

the hostname or the ip.

THe next obvious question is: what's the error you get?

My guess is that you forgot to give MySQL access to the other hosts. The database will deny connections from other hosts by default, RT(F)MySQL M for more information.
