No Order query in mysql

Hallo,
I want to do the following query:

Select Name, email, city from users where userid=7 OR userid=12 OR userid=10 OR userid=1.

Of course I have the correct results, but I have them in the following order:

1 name city
7 name city
10 name city
12 name city.

The problem is that I do not want the results sorted at any way, I want to have them with the same order I entered them at the query. Any ideas?

If you don't add an ORDER BY clause, then the records are returned in the order in which they appear in the table.

The WHERE clause only selects certain records, it has no effect on ordering.

If you want to change the order of the records that are returned, you'll have to create an ORDER BY clause.

In your case you'd have to do something like

SELECT bla,
CASE
WHEN userid=7 THEN 1
WHEN userid=12 THEN 2
WHEN userid=10 THEN 3
WHEN userid=1 THEN 4
END AS neworder
FROM table
ORDER BY neworder ASC;
