SELECT with spaces

Hi there....

Isn't this possible:

SELECT booktitle, FROM books WHERE author=($update_author) asc"

The value from $update_author is his name (for example David Baldacci) with a space between first and last name.

This is the error message I get:
Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource

Hope someone can help me out.....

Try putting quotes around the name.

(how else is SQL supposed to know that you mean a string and not a column name?)

and start using error checking, that will tell you where the error is:

if (!mysql_query("select...."))
{
echo mysql_error();
}
