MySQL connectivity errors

I'm a newbie at MySQL connectivity using PHP4. I have loaded PHP4 and Mysql on my Linux box without problems. I can execute the basix PHP scripts for passing form data no problem but when I try and open my database with mysql_connect(...) I get the following :-

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mysql_connect()

Please help

My guess would be that it's something to do with the arguments attributed to the connect function.

What have you actually put in the brackets? Is the essential argument (the database name - username and password are optional) included? I only suggest this because I've made the same slip a load of times myself.

Perhaps you could send the whole block of code that attempts to establish the connection, and the problem may reveal itself.
