select based on date

I have a classfied-ads site running a php-mysql script. As requested by user, I like to add two links that can list all ads posted todays and the other link for yesteday ads.

The format of date in the ad table is 01.04.2002 (day.month.year). Can someone help on the php-mysql code to select ads based on today and yesterday ads.

i tried several options to create the variable $today, but still got error. Can you help?

I thought all dates in MySQL where formatted as YYYY-MM-DD i.e. 2002-04-01

try
select * from yourtable
where thedate = '2002-04-01'

and see what you get.
