counting hours between two dates?!?

I have a problem:

I got a statistic table in a database, where per click at a point a timestamp (yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm:ss) is stored in the database.

Now, I want to count the hours between the first click and now.

For example, the first click was on
2002-02-28 14:28:12. how can i count the amount of hours 'till now??

Start out by converting the date to UNIX timestamps (no of seconds since 01-01-1970) using strtotime(). Then you simply subtract the old date from the current (use time() to get it). Then you could use date('format', $difference-between-dates) to format the output.
