Oracle8i vs MSSQL 7

i am developing a web application on JAVA webserver. now i am confusing for the database selection. whether i go for Oracle8i or MSSQL Server 7.

Please help me for it. Please also give me clarification why use Oracle8i or MSSQL Server 7.

How large is your purse?

Oracle is a lot more expensive.
Do you plan to store binaries in the DB?

That's the only reason I've considered it.

MSSQL2k (as MSSQL7 is no longer current) is great! Spend the rest on a fast machine, RAM and a big party with hoochie-coochie dancers... and don't forget to invite your
friends here.

True, Oracle is a lot more expensive than MSSQL,
but the question was which do I find better.
And I think oracle is better than MSSQL.

you feel Oracle is best. But, the question is still standing. Why??????

My two main things against MS-SQL are:
- MS-SQL does not support raw devices, where oracle does.
- MS-SQL uses an 8KB pagesize where oracle can use 2KB. (due to the fact that MS-SQL only runs on windowsNT)
