burden for the database server

we are building a website with PHP and MYsql.but you know there are a lot of people who often visit your website everyday,and I design the homepage with PHP, there are some latest news .so there must be a greate burden for the database server ,how can I desl with the situation ,should I program some shell codes ?can you help me?

The only way to find out wether your database can handle the load is to try it out. Build a page, put lots of news in it, and do a benchmart/stresstest.

You need a pretty busy website to get database problems from just a simple news script.
