I know this isn't PHP related, but you have all been so helpful for me in the past that I am hoping someone can answer a simple question for me... Has anyone ever heard of lop.com? Somehow it has infiltrated into my ie explorer, and everytime I go to a web site that it not found the lop.com search engine opens instead w/tons of annoying pop-up ads. I have even made it a restricted site and also tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling explorer, but it keeps coming back. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? Much thanks!

Google has it: Search for "uninstall lop.com"

Best way to remove it is to use ad-ware from Lavasoft. It's free, it's fast and it worked for me.

It's available at:

http://www.lavasoft.de

It's also worth downloading RefUpdate from them as well, as this keeps all the ad-definition files up to date (v. much like anti-virus update).

There's a switch in the program to remove lop.com.

Something you may also find useful is the following registry hack I found which changes the default search engine to Google. Porlly won't solved the lop.com issue, but it's still nice🙂

Oh no. Nothing nasty at all in the Ad-Aware software from Lavasoft. Simply in the number of entries that it finds stashed away in your registry.
