loading data from mysql backup

Hello,
I use myphpadmin to manage a mysql database. I ran a backup and backed up data and structure.

Now I would like to re-create this database on another server.

How do I execute this file called "databasename.sql" so it loads up as it was before i backed it up?

It has all the create-table queries in it so i'm sure it can be done.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try with this :
mysql databasename < databasename.sql
or
mysql -e "source /patch-to-backup/backup-
file.sql" database
u can get more info in mysql manual..

or by using phpmyadmin u can do this stuff ..
just create a "database" using phpmyadmin after creating u would see some thing like
"Run SQL query/queries on database " ur data base name" Documentation] :"
followed by a textarea" U can paste entire text from .sql file here & run the query..

otherwise u could do this by..
browse ur file & submit..

If you are using myphpadmin on your other server, it could be as easy as copying and pasting the contents of the file "databasename.sql" into myphpadmin via "Run SQL query/queries on database (new database)" textarea box.

That would work if phpmyadmin wasn't the buggy piece of sh*t that it is 🙂

never ever backup using phpmyadmin, if will fail.

Use mysqldump and the mysql commandline tool to make and restore backups.
