Mysql has been planning top support subqueries for years, and so far they have not delivered.
Use PostgreSQL, that has subqueries, and stored procedures, and functions, and foreign keys, and transactions and functional indexes and triggers and rules and a lot more that mysql refuses to implement because it's faster without it.
