Sorry for the very stupid beginner's question: I have Access under WIN Me on my PC and I would like now to install MySQL. Is it possible to use MySQL like Access, that is an interactive program that enables you to define and populate a database? What shall I do first?

Yes, you can. but bear in mind that Access has all the form creation tools and reports etc.

You would need to develop the forms and tools your self through some language like PHP, ASP, Javascript, VB, VC++, Java, etc...some of these require the use of the web server (iis on windows or you can istall any other web server you want, ie apache)

but MySQL is a useful tool...

and leaps and bounds more useful than Access if you're planning on doing some Web dev ;-)
