having this error.....

Error

SQL-query :

ALTER TABLE Hospital.doctor CHANGE Speciality Speciality VARCHAR(50) NOT NULL

MySQL said:

Error on rename of '.\hospital\doctor.MYI' to '.\hospital#sql2-fff8da53-d.MYI' (Errcode: 13)

why??whats wrong...it does not allow me to drop tables or database as well..insertion is ok....!!!???

I'm not sure, but it may be that you have a couple of processes trying to look at the same table.
Some options to try include shutting down all other clients, and issue a FLUSH TABLES; command, and perhaps also do a CHECK TABLE Hospital.doctor; and REPAIR TABLE Hospital.doctor; (this last out of general paranoia)

I'm new to mySQL and run it on Windows...

I had the same problem myself and fixed it this way:

Go to your WinMySQL admin. Right click on the database of your problem and flush hosts! There you go. Did it for me 😉
