DISTINCT + SUM

Is it not possible to use DISTINCT together with SUM?

I have been thinking about something like this:

SELECT DISTINCT(title) SUM(PRICE) AS Price FROM books

But i doesn't work :-(

Hope someone can help!!

Try taking the brackets away, that may work?

What result do you want?

select title,sum(price)
from books
group by title

will give you the sum for each title.

That would be a better way.
