I'd say you are looking for a site with server side processing and a database - so you're in the right place. Geocities (I think) doesn't allow that, only html and javascript so you won't get updates. You need a decent webhost and to do some work with the tutorials on the php sites (if php is the language you want to use) before you even start with anything "real".
