The Story: Me and my friend for the longet time have been battling over whats the best programming language between good ol fashioned PERL and PHP. Me being the PHP coder I take PHP. Him being the PERL coder he chooses PERL.
The Setup: Yesterday we came to the point of arguing where we wanted to have a code off. Where we have quick application to make where we sit in front of a timer, on our respective machines, and code something. Both PERL and PHP using a MySQL database for the backend.
The Test: The test is for speed, program logic, and general coding practices. Also how effectively your app does the task.
The Issue: We cant think of a program to make. If we think of a task for each other we would obviously think of something where each would have and equal chance. Basically program written by a knowlegeable third party that dosent know our weaks and stregnths in each language so the program wouldn't be particular to anyone.
The Goal: We need someone to think of a simple program for us to write. Then we'll write it and put it on our servers. Ill post the link here. You guys pick the winner.
