Configuration problem with MsSQL.

Hi there!
I've just installed the MS SQL SERVER 2000 Personal Edition on my WinXP PRO, but there is a serious issue that prevents me from using this database with PHP. The password is somehow bad and I cannot connect to the server?!
When I try to change the password it comes up with a strange problem!?

Needless to say, I am not experienced with MsSQL. If I have the settings to USE WINDOWS AUTHENTICATION, what then is the password!? My normal user logon account?

This is a program that should (?) be working with the database, right?

Hi,

Just ran into your problem. A collegue of mine has the same problem as it seems, and would certainly be delighted to find out how you managed to use microsoft sql with php.
The message she had was: "DATABASE FAILED TO RESPOND"

Well, the problem I experienced turned out to be pretty simple to solve. MsSQL was setup to use WINDOWS STANDARD AUTHENTICATION which is not supported directly by PHP. I just switched to SQL SERVER AUTHENTICATION and setup a proper user account for use by a PHP connection.

Also a rather strange error-message appeared and PHP would sometimes shut down when trying to open a MsSQL connection - but I've "updated" my way out of that problem.

The origine of your problem seems to be different. Here the sql server authentication is OK. Using enterprise manager everythings goes fine. It's the php part here.
