MySQL - problem with MATCH AGAINST

Hi people, i am with problems in mysql, someone knows the correct sintaxe for

SELECT id MATCH (collumn) AGAINST ('needle') ?

and what version of mysql full suports this tool?

i was able to get some results, but only with one collumn, and i want many collumns.. in mysql documeantion site, there are several examples with two colummns, but for me it never worked...

someone-please-have-some-clue?

thanks Martin, i realize that my problem was with the table structure...
i was unable to do the search in more than one column at a time because the fulltext was declared in one column at a time..
i mean

alter table news ADD FULLTEXT allsearch (tit, subtit, links, comp, text);

and then

select * from news where match (tit, subtit, links, comb, text) against ('needle');
