Max connections in PostgreSQL

Hi. I am having some performance issues with my PostgreSQL database. When my website gets busy, it quickly runs out of connections. I am running RedHat with Apache on a Pentium III 750 with 512MB RAM. Would it help to change the maximum number of connections in PostgreSQL, and if so, what would be a sensible value? MaxClients in Apache is set to 150, if that makes a difference. Thanks for your help!

Well I'd suggest that you set your Postgres to 150 if thats the maximum number of clients that Apache will host. Actually you should set it a little higher just incase somehting happens and Apache keeps all 150 connections open, you will want to still be able to get in using other methods.
