ODBC Date Insert into Access

Heyas,
I'm trying to figure out a way of inserting a date value in an MS-Access table using ODBC. I read somewhere that you have to make the date feild in the database a text field instead of a date/time field.. Unfortuneatly I cannot do this so I was wondering if there is another way of correctly formatting the date ready for an insert..
