how to use Text File in Data base

Dear Sir

My application is use PHP and PostgreSQL

so I have text file in this file 10 field(col) but i copy all field in Postgresql Table but my Table contain only five (5)field so how to use textfile for my five field table in PostgreSQL

I show COPY command in PostgreSQL but
can,t get info

I'd do it in 2 steps - create temporary table with the same number of columns (10). Use COPY to import delimited file into table, then INSERT INTO the table the 5 fields you need.
