MySQL basic info

Can anyone advise me on this query.

I have a web hosting account which doesn't provide any database support with it.

I was basically wondering how easy / feasible it would be to create a MySQL database on my PC and upload it to my hosting account i.e the MySQL database run standalone.

Contained in the database would only be news & updates information so no sensitive data would be contained within it.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Can someone point me to a PHP script which will take selected static HTML page text content and transport it to a database? Even a flat databse would be fine...

Have you looked at the files created by a mySQL db?
It's not just a flat file.
I don't understand how you will parse the MDY, MYI and frm files without losing keys and such.

Just go with a flat file system until you figure it necessary to pay for the db feature.
