I am developing a few layouts which will be inserted within the templates of our site. These layouts will have various placeholders like for Title , Description etc.
Now when I am designing the layouts table in mySQL , I obviously want to minimise the storage space , use a Datatype which will truncate the trailing space before storing the data in the db. When the placeholder will be of less than 255 characters ( e.g. like for Title ) , I can use varchar datatype , but for anything more than 255 characters (say upto 1500 or 2000 characters ) the only option that i know i have is BLOB or Text , both of which do not allow end space truncation and take as much as 64KB space.
Is there anyway I can minimise this storage space ?
Any help or opinion on this will be of great help. Thanks !!
