Hi,

As a complete beginner I don't have the foggiest about mysql, only that my web provider charges $75 a year per database.

If I have 5 scripts each using php/mysql then does that mean I need 5 databases?

Your webprovider is charging you for the mysql database support. if you have scripts that will interact with mysql database.

It depends on your script how many database it is using.

if you are using php/mysql then there is no need for 5 databases. yes u can use 5 scripts and one mysql database and 5 tables within in that database. This is possible.

Also your provider is charging your rediculously much for the sql database! I pay 9 euros per year...

Thank you for the answers. Having looked around I also have concluded that $75 is a very high charge for this, most ISP now seem to offer MySQL for free. I am considering changing supplier.
