#Name?

Does anyone know why I'm getting #Name? when my database encounters the Date() function?

When my database opens the first form displays the Date and Time, but just before the Date and Time become visible, there is the dreaded #Name?. It seems to recover and works OK.

Also, in one of my reports, the date does not recover and the preview window shows #Name?

I've checked the system date and time and even the type of calendar being used on the PC, but everything appears to be OK.

To add to my problems, when I run my database on two other PCs the Date() function works perfectly, so I don't know which to blame, the code or the PC.

Do you hate Access? Just don't use it! 🙂
you see #Name -> Access can't find Date()

Check Service ->Links for absent libraries.

make sure your date field in the form / report maches to the table fieldname...

You might want to check and see if the machine giving you problems has all of the add-ins that your good machine has.

Thankyou for your quick response. You mention ADD-INs, and I've checked that all the necessary libraries are available. Since I posted the #Name? problem, I have slimmed down the original query, i.e not so many calls to the Date() function and hey-presto it worked. Why????? Who knows? It is Access, it is Microsoft and was made by Bill Gates, I'm surprised it ever worked in the first place.

Hi Crimaniak,

Thankyou for replying so promptly. I have checked for all the necessary libraries in particular the DAO 3.6 library which is needed for some of the coding, but everything is present. I tried the query with fewer calls to the Date() function and it now works. For how long, is anybody's guess. AND YES I do hate Access, I have spent whole days trying to find problems that disappear when I switch on my PC the next day.

Thanks for answering so quickly. Yes all the fieldnames agree and it does work on two other PCs. When I reduced the number of calls to the Date() function function, IT WORKED. Why? Beats me. Its Access, need I say more.
