backing up database

After my host turned on "Safe Mode" in PHP, backup of my database no longer works.

Right now I use mysqldump in shell, but the layout of the dumped file is terrible.

Is there any way to backup your database from the web even when safe mode is enabled?

Exactly how are you backing up you db from the web? And what do you mean the layout of the dumped (shell mysqldump) file is terrible?????? You know there are switches to mysqldump that allow for the customization of a dump. BTW, Are you concerned with data backup or data asthetics?

I'm intrested in a complete backup with nicely formatted tables. Could anyone please give me a good combination of switches for this?
