compare two tables

Hi.

I am building a forum and I have a problem.

I would to compare two tables(new thread and answer to thread) and the date in the in them and when dispaly the most recent post.

The soultion I have just now do not work because the data would not been displayed if there are nothing in the answer table.

Any ideas.

Should be easy with a LEFT JOIN and the "isnull()" function to display the thread if there is no answer. If you need more help post some table and column names.
