Select max from multi-tables

Hi!

I have a db where different groups have their own table. On the startpage, I wanted to print out the top 5 users (they all have points) selecting from multiple tables...

I tried something like:

SELECT max(p) FROM group1, group2, group3

but that obviously didn't work 🙂

So, I want to select the 5 users with the highest points in the whole db... meaning the "group1, group2..."-part shouldn't be static.

Plz help me out on this one,

You need a union, like this:

select from t1 union select from t2 union select * from t3 order
by p desc limit 3;

Does that do what you need?
