OCI_OPEN_SERVER error

Hi all,
We have a RH6.2 running a webserver with PHP connecting to remote Oracle8 running on NT. The RH6.2 machine has both secure (SSL based) and non-secure (port 80) running from the same machine. Offlate we have been experiencin a problem with connection, it say oci_open_server only from the non-secure. But when I connect using SQL/PLUS everything is fine. So I pretty sure this is not an Oracle issue.

On which CD did OCI come on???

If u r asking about getting Oracle8i, Im sure I cannot help you. You would need to some sales@oracle. If u asking about which of the CD's in the whole bunch I used to install oracle, you will have to use the Enterprise Edition of oracle 8.1.5 for Linux. Before running the installation download jre1.1.6 from blackdown.org and untar the jre. the add the env's to your profile and then run the runIns.sh of your CD. Install the Enterprise database, as that will leave a demo folder which will have the important components for PHP-OCI connections.
Try this and let me know.

Yes I already have Oracle 8i CD package for linux, I have IBM JDK 1.1.8, but when I run /runInstaller.sh I get -1 returned from CreateProcess() error!

I did .h search on the CD and found no headers therefore I can assume the must be in a compressed file.

I will keep working at trying to get the installer to work.

Ok I guess the issues must be like what I had before..
1. I dont think the jdk1.1.8 works for the swings used in the Linux CD, sux....
2. You would need to go th blackdown.org, or follow the below link .
ftp://metalab.unc.edu/pub/linux/devel/lang/java/blackdown.org/JDK-1.1.6/i386/glibc/v5/
Now download the jre_1.1.6-v5-glibc-x86.tar.gz file
3. untar this dist and add export JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/jre and export PATH=$PATH:$JAVA_HOME/bin.
4. set up the environment variables, if u have a fax number, I can fax u probably the set of papers for instructions on how to go about once up.
5. Restart for the environment variables to take effect and run "runIns.sh" not the other.
6. Remember install the enterprise version completely, and not the client or programmer.
Should work fine.
