add columns with PHP??

Hi everybody,

I am a newbie in PHP and mySQL with a question...
I host my site with a hosting company that lets me create mySQL databases and lets me use PHP. I can create databases with their control panel but i cannot add any columns. Does anybody know if i can create columns through PHP script??? In other words, when i want to add a record through PHP will it let me do that although i don't have any columns?
It is probably a stupid question. But i am figuring things out...

you will have to use the ALTER TABLE sql query. you may want to look it up in the Mysql site. when you form the query, just fire like any other select/insert query.
