MS Access + MySql -Linking tables MyODBC

Hello,

I have been reading everything I can and can't find the answer to this question.

I have an existing Access 2000 database on Win 2000 Pro that is used for our customer service database. It is a great program and we are going to continue to use it. I want to have the information that is in Access to be available in MySQL.

I know how to export this information to MySQL with MyODBC. I want to know how to make it so that when we update the information in Access, it also updates the information in MySQL automatically. I learned how to link tables, but it didn't seem to work the way I wanted.

Please help! I will give you some free bodybuilding products (protein, creatine, bars) if somebody can get me going with this!

Did you know that you can keep your Access software but use Linked tables in Access instead of Access Tables. That way your data will always be correct. The problem with this of course is that you will probably have to change alot of your access code (not sure how much).

It depends on the purpose of the MySQL database - is it for viewing only? If so, you could dump out the data from Access on a regular basis - say every 10 minutes.

But option one would be the way i would do it.

I didn't create the Access program, so I will contact the people who made it for us.

Will this slow down the Access database for the people using it here? It is a pretty large database!

How do you make it so it dumps the data every 10 minutes?

I exported the data to MySQL. Some data changed in the Access table, so I tried to export it again so it would overwrite the other one. It says: Table Already Exists.

How do I get it so it updates the data without having to drop the database first?

I have worked on this for hours and hours... about to pull my hair out!!
