I'm creating a form where the value of field2 is dependent upon field one. for example, i have two tables

CUSTOMERS

Cust id Customer Name
1 Intel
2 AMD

CONTACTS
Cust id Contact id Contact Name
1 1 Jeff
1 2 Mary
2 3 Peter

and I have the form:

Customer Name: <drop down>
*Contact: <drop down> dependent on selected customer (i.e. if you select Intel, the choices for contact are limited to Jeff and Mary)

Is php capable of calculating the contact field value based on the selected customer without submitting the form? Please help. I'm starting to re-think using php. Thanks.

PHP is a server side scripting language so in order to filter the second dropdown you would have to have the page refresh. The most practical way to do what you want is to use Javascript a client side language.
