mySQL - Access Denied

I have this mySQL DB configured, but when-even I try to access the DB (via a PHP page or SSH shell or phpMyAdmin console) I get this error :

ERROR 1044: Access denied for user: mysite@localhost' to database 'mysite'

What's the problem? Any help is appreciated!

You need to set up an account for mysite

do this from root on the mysql server

GRANT select, insert, update, delete
ON mysite.*
TO mysite@localhost
IDENTIFIED BY 'password';

This will give you access to select, insert, update and delete. this is usually enough for most scripts...

No luck there. Each time I execute this query at the mysql> shell prompt I get this error : "ERROR 1064: You have an error in your SQL syntax"

Following is an alternative query which I tried executing :

mysql> ego GRANT select, insert, update, delete
-> ON mySite.*
-> TO mySite@localhost
-> IDENTIFIED BY 'myPassword';

Why the "ego" word in the beginning of the SQL expression?

"ego" (as per my accounts mysql shell) is used to send a query to the DB server and return the output as reponse.

Are you replacing
ON mysite.
with
On <databasename>.
I think (not sure, seem to work on my site) that ON mysite.* = the name of the database.
Is this correct? Not sure, if the experts could make sure i'm right here.
