Hi

Does anyone know where I can get hold of the ODBC library for PHP? And how I might go about installing this? Our "out-of-the-box" PHP doesn't have any ODBC functionality. We are running it on Linux.

No Joke 🙂

ODBC on linux / unix is actually quite nice; ODBC isn't slow nor limiting if written correctly.

We maintain an opensource LGPL driver manager at www.iodbc.org, and an SDK, if you want to write your own drivers or compile ODBC-aware apps.

We also provide fast ODBC drivers for many unix platforms (and windows, mac, etc) that outperform native drivers and ususally enforce additional functionality on the back-end database.

And they work quite nicely with PHP. Here is the HOWTO on compiling the iODBC driver manager or Openlink (pick either one or the other, please 🙂
