I'm new to all of this and need help with some simple stuff. First of all, I had MySQL installed on my server. I know nothing about that yet. I am also having PHP enabled as well. Now, I need to know how do I connect to MySQL, and how to start creating a database for the site I'm working on. Any references for extreme beginners would be great. Thanks.

You Use a tool : phpmyadmin...

Integration of PHP to Manage My SQL Db...

go to http://freshmeat.net

In the Search, type : "phpmyadmin"

Download the soft, untar, follow the install instruction...

You can now connect your DB to view how it work !

Some Stuff, you can debug the PHP(3) sources to see how it work !!!

Is there a windows version of phpMyAdmin? As far as I know it, I've only seen a unix version?

phpmyadmin is complitely written in PHP, and if your Web server il well configured, this PHP application running on a web browser could run under windows...

I've an Apache server at work running under LINUX... and I manage mySQL under Internet Explorer on Win station.

At Home, for fun, I've an apache running under Win98 and MySQL under Win98...

With the good configuration in Apache, PhpMyAdmin Run OK !!!

Thanks Andre for the reply...that's very reassuring. HOWEVER, I've downloaded phpMyAdmin as a .tar file and I can't get winzip to unzip it. How do I go about unzipping the file to install it on Windows?
Is there a .zip file available for phpMyAdmin? Have you got a link to the page that contains this?
