Simon, for exact price quotations, visit www.oracle.com and www.informix.com.

But, for internet licences, both comapnies charge around 50k-60k Dollars.

Please note, 50k to 60k is probably low for Oracle, who now charge by the "power unit" of your server. The formula, according to the most recent article I've read is $100 each CPU Each MHz, so a Dual 800MHZ PIII would cost you

1002800 or $160,000 to license yearly.

I can buy a pair of 4 way Xeon machines running Postgresql in a home made failover for that, and still donate $50,000 or so to the postgres folks for further development...

Getting off-ropic here, the question was "how much do oracle and informix cost"

Ofcourse MySQL is a nice alternative for those who have a "simple" database and no budget 🙂 but I wouldn't even try to compare MySQL to oracle or Informix.
