How can connect remote Database(Sybase)?

I can not connect the database Sybase on the remote db server from a client PC with PHP.

I don't know about your setup but here's mine that works.

*Apache 1.3.12 + PHP 4.0.4 + Sybase Open Clinet 10.0.4 on Windows NT Workstation

*Sybase 11.9.2 on Solaris

Make sure you can execute a very simple PHP script before connecting to Sybase. Maybe like

echo "Hello World";
?>
Run SQLEDIT.exe(if running Windows) to define connections to Sybase. If you don't know what this means, talk to your db admin.
Uncomment the line in php.ini:
extension=php_sybase_ct.dll
(Restart Apache)
Try a sample code like below:
<?
$cn = sybase_connect($svr, $uid, $pwd) or die("$svr won't talk to me!");
sybase_select_db($db, $cn);
?>

If you get:
Warning: Sybase: Server message: Changed database context to 'Your Database'
then it's good, you can throw queries or do whatever you want.

I have Apache 1.3.17, PHP 4.0.4, and the Sybase Client installed on a Windows 98 and a Windows 2000. The database resides on a remote Unix server.

There is no SQLEDIT.exe on either PC. I did run dsedit to confirm the source is set to the correct IP.

I know that simple PHP scripts are running, but when I uncomment "extension=php_sybase_ct.dll" I'm getting the bizarre message about writing to an illegal statment regardless of whether sybase_connect has been called or not.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like you\'re using System 11.
I tried with System 11 client, and PHP crushed on me.
With System 10 client everything seems to be ok.
I guess the Sybase dll that comes with PHP is compiled
with System 10 access library.

So my suggestion would be to get System 10 client or
PHP\'s sybase dll that is compatible with System 11.
