I have a php script trying to connect to an mssql database sitting on an NT server. When I ran the script I got the following error msg:

Warning: MS SQL message: Login failed for user 'tom'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection. (severity 14)

note: 'tom' is a legit username to the mssql database.

Use ODBC or change your mssql setttings.

I encountered this problem on my dev workstation. When SQL server was installed it was configured with Windows authentication only. To change the settings to Windows (i.e. hoppa\administrator) **AND SQL Server (i.e. sa) authentication right click on the server in the enterprise manager. Click the security tab, then click Windows and SQL logins.

Hi Andy,

please can you tell me PHP does not work with native NT authentication? Is there only the possibility to use SQL authentication? Is there any need to change the connection to ado or odbc?
