URGENT HELP- PHP & Oci8 Linux problem:o)

I have Red Hat Linux 7.0, running Apache 1.3.14 which has php 4.0.4 installed as module and i have sucessfully install oci8 to php. as well as oracle 8.1.6 installed.

The Problem: PHP cannot connect to a oracle database (8.1.6) over the network using OCINLogon, i have SQLPlus on the Linux machine and that can connect fine, queries and everything fine. but PHP just wont find/connect to the database...WHY?
(the server running NT4.0 works fine this way, Why not RedHat??

What is the error given by PHP?

and just spews out No Connection and no database access
(works fine on NT4.0/Win2000 Server)

I too have a similar problem.

I am running

RedHat 6.2,
Apache 1.3.14
Oracle 8.1.7 (Oracle 8i R3)
MySql 3.22.32
php 4.0.4
perl 5.005_03

I have Apache compiled and linked ok, (DSO method), working well with:

MySql + perl + php
Oracle + perl

but I cannot get php and oracle 8i to work together. Whenever I start apache I get a segmentation error.

Any ideas out there ?
