Data shaping w/ mySQL & PHP

Is there any way to do Data Shaping with PHP and MySQL? I'm not aware if this is an MS thing or what, but i've found no documentation on it, and a search of this site's turned up zip

Do the manuals (PHP and MySQL) say anything about data-shaping? No. That probably means it's not supported :-)

It's not really an MS thing, but it could very well have been. Recordsets within recordsets... how nasty does it get? 🙂

yea, it's a nick 🙂 (long, long story about it, to - to much to even go into)

And though it's kinda ugly logically, it's so handy to use in shopping carts and stuff.

Any chance of it ever being implimented?

Well I guess everything they come up with for organising data has it's uses, or they wouldn't come up with it :-)

I don't think it's in the pipeline for the MySQL boys,
seeying as they only recently got a patch to allow transactions (which is quite a shortcoming for most database applications)
MySQL remains a lightweight database that is very very good at fast but "simple" tasks.

The data shaping in MSSQL is done through an ADO object (if that makes any sense), so the SQL server has really nothing to do with it.

I guess this would be implemented at the interface level, this case PHP, and the PHP mysql functions.

Humm, mysql_datashape sounds like a good name for it =)
