Really, I have been shuttling between phpdb, binarycloud, metabase etc. Which one is the most recommended, especially if I want portability between MySQL, Oracle and MS SQL Server 2000?
I would appreciate any experiences/advice!
Thanks, Winnie
Why not just settle for PEAR. Its not perfect yet, but will most likely be the safest bet because it will be standardized/endorsed by PHP itself..
Thanks Shanx (that rhymes! :-))
What is PEAR?
The problem with PEAR is that it's only PHP4 (from what I gather). With so much stuff still running on php3 and problems with PHP4 you can't really develop a public use app using PEAR.
Of course for private internal use it could work well. Personally I've been scouring freshmeat and sourceforge looking for projects that either do db abstraction or handle multiple databases. Then I'm comparing the way they do them. I'll pick the best one then modify that to my tastes.
Let me know if I'm wrong on this count.
