PHP(unix) --> MSSQL ?

Hi All,

Has anyone done real world system development of PHP running on UNIX connecting to MSSQL. I understand ODBC and TDS are available, but are they really viable in a real world, heavy usage environment? I'm concerned about speed crossing platforms. We have outgrown mySQL as a valid robust DBMS.

I have been using FreeTDS to connect to a MsSQL server in a production enviorment for some time now, and have had no problems with speed. The site we host gets about 3 million hits a month, by no means a yahoo.com, but still I would think a good test.
