Getting the current record number..

Is there a way on how I can get the current record number of the current record.. in a database. ?? For example, I fetch the profile of where the profile_id = 1024, Now.. is there a way to get its current record number inside the table?

Records don't have numbers, records hold data that can be numbers.

What exactly do you want to do?

I have a list of people with firstname, lastname email, and addresses. At first, the list of records are presented... with their names clickable... when you click on their name, it shows the full details of that person. and within this DETAILED view, there is a button called next,previous,delete... WHEN I CLICK on delete, it should know which is the next record and display that next record after deletion.. 🙂 ANy suggestion(s)?

Your table needs to include a column (or set of columns) that uniquely identify each row. Most commonly, this can be an arbitrary identifier such as an autonumber column (alas, the auto aspect is not part of the sql standard so every dbms has its unique way of specifying it.) However, depending on your table and what it's mapping in the real world, some other piece of information (e.g. a social-security number, telephone number, or other other unique identifier ) might also work. Whichever way you do it, make sure to make your identifier a primary key so the dbms itself will never let you add a row with a duplicate or empty identifier.
