MySQL 4 win98 installation

Does anyone knows where to find a good installation procedure to install Mysql in win98. I have working Apache and PHP on win98. I also can run OmniHTTPd with PHP on win98, either installation procedures are appreciated.

Ohh. Do ya I have to install ODBC in order to use the windows version of mysql?

Once you download mysql-win32 shareware you simply extract it somewhere and double click on the .exe file and it will install itself into c:\mysql. Couldn't be easier.

In your php3.ini file make sure that under the window extentions the mysql.dll is uncommented.

Now you have to start it...I can't remember the exact syntax on 98 so you might have to do a search...but try this:

Open a dos prompt window and type;

cd mysql
cd bin
mysqld

That should work!

Next run a simple info.php3 script like:

<?php
phpinfo();
?>

And you should see the mysql info at the top of the page.

I have seen some somewhere.......try www.webmonkey.com or www.weberdev.com....and of course www.phpbuilder.com

I suggest the first thing you do is download mysqladmin from www.phpwizard.net (I think?) and you'll never have to use dos or telnet ever again.

You can download phpMyAdmin to manage Mysql,it's very useful.

Yep Jason. You are right I did but here is my question now.

how can I import my database to MySql. My file is of type CSV (comma separated values).

Is there any database the can open mysql database (i.e. Access, dbase, etc)?

The question is how would you insert large amout of data. For example, if you have an address book that has about 300 records and each record has (name, address, ph, email, occup, etc)

Hi,
I am facing problem with PHP3. I am using latest version of Mysql. But it gives me problem for mysql_connect() function.
Error displyed is unable to find function mysql_connect().
I am become mad due to this error. I removed the comment from .dll . but still it's not working. I am using windows 98.
