File premission

I am trying to write a script that allows for people to write an article and upload it onto my server. I got a error that looks like this

"Warning: fopen("/home2/oxgames/News system/articles/1.art","w") - Permission denied in /home2/oxgames/newsupdated.php4 on line 23"

How can i make it so that my script can make the file on the drive. is there away that i have to add in the username and password to make it so that i will have premission. thanks guys.

If PHP is in safe mode, you have to do file uploads in cgi (run php as a cgi).

i just wanted to try this out, I am trying to make my own forum using php and postgresql, If anyone has any good ideas, let me know. I have "roughed out" a basic discussion forum, I am just looking at others to see how they work.

PHP runs as a different user than you, so it doesn't have permission to write in your directories. Use chmod to modify the articles/ directory so that "other" has read and write permissions.

chmod 776 articles

Without changing the installation of PHP or adding some more modules, that's the only solution.
