Storing Images in Database

Is their a way to store images in a mysql database. If so is this a good idea or is it something i should avoid.

Search for earlier discussions about this subject.
It's not a good idea if you plan to use the stored images for your page layout (useless overhead).
Remember that MySQL uses cooked files to store it's tables, so storeing images in there means you are sending the data through the database, which sends it through the filesystem. You might aswell use the filesystem directly.

Vincent is right, it is not a good idea...

As written in mysql manual:
"When using a normal web server setup, images should be stored as files. That is, store only a file reference in the database. The main reason for this is that a normal web server is much better at caching files than database contents. So it it's much easier to get a fast system if you are using files."
